This spirituality is grounded in a consistent ethic of life that respects the inherent dignity of all persons. Statements against women's ordination have been made out of fearful reaction to decisions of the Episcopal Church. Using the Whitehead method, the author studies the experience of Episcopalians and the tradition of the Catholic Church, bringing these elements into conversation with aspects of democratic and clerical cultures. Familt Systems Theory is an avenue whereby the power of Jesus can be experienced. Conflict itself is only a part of the picture; equally important is the management of conflict. This project collects information from the field through district presidents within the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod (LCMS) along with consultants who assist congregations and church organizations that find themselves in conflict. Combining God's Word with an outside source for help provides a church with a resource to help reconcile relationships and resolve conflicts that may not be resolvable using internal procedures. Questionnaires were sent to all 43 congregations, and all were returned.  Data was also collected from the 1997 PCA Yearbook.  The churches were then ranked, and five each were selected from the top, middle, and bottom third, and their pastors interviewed concerning the missions giving of their congregations. The group of parents received workshop materials, sample curriculum to be taught at home, and instructions on how to develop spiritual disciplines. The training materials were introduced in a workshop format spanning the course of several weeks. Through interviews of congregational leaders and randomly selected members, the researcher assessed the pre-decision knowledge and attitude of the members concerning the topic. A presentation on the topic was then prepared and presented to the congregation. Following the decision, those members involved were questioned as to what factors contributed to their decision. Training included six instructional sessions with materials derived from research on key principles of goal setting and planning.  The first session contained the biblical and theological rationale for goal setting and planning.  Sessions two and three explored definitions, key principles, and processes of goal setting.  Session four examined planning programs and events from stated goals.  Session five included an explanation of the purpose statement of Woodridge Baptist Church from the pastor and participants who write actual goals for their ministry area.
