A witness workshop was developed and presented which enabled the participants to be equipped to engage in both of the above activities. A series of three questionnaires shaped the materials which were used in the witness workshop. The second questionnaire indicated if the goals of the workshop has been accomplished. Part of the analysis is based on a personal journal kept by the author over a period of 35 weeks.  Other analysis is based upon data collected from 48 randomly chosen students at Bible Teachers Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  They were asked to complete a two-part survey on their practice and perception of fasting. It considers theological research in the area of evangelism and reviews current literature about outreach, focusing on relationships, friendship evangelism, and using recreational settings in outreach. Described are the processes and methods that were used to develop, implement, and evaluate the training of laypeople to become better witnesses in recreational settings. The findings suggest that training for evangelism in recreational settings used in conjunction and the use of such recreational settings used for intentional evangelism help those providing a Christian witness. The author examined biblical texts that dealt with the issue or recruiting and developing teachers.  In addition, the author researched foundational material that highlighted sound teacher training strategies. New and current teachers were utilized to sit through the training material and then teach a series of lessons using the training they had recieved.  Learning style surveys and post-lesson interviews were used to discover the effectiveness of the training model. This project acknowledges the need to mobilize the church to be stewards of the environment, and develops a course of study to be used in our congregations to make people aware of their responsibilites and motivations. The class was field tested at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Evansville, Indiana. Project components included exploring selected new member assimilation strategies and component resources, strategy development through a discipleship training leadership team of the church, and the presentation of a strategy to the church for adoption.  The project director guided the strategy development process by selecting and utilizing a team of leaders from the discipleship training program who collaborated in developing the plan.  The completed strategy plan was presented to the church body for adoption as part of the disciple-making processes for all new members of Gloster Baptist Church.
