In his book Good to Great, Jim Collins observes how effective leaders demonstrate a paradoxical blend of professional will and personal humility. This same paradox is reflected in Jesus' grace-giving, truth-telling leadership. He perfectly modeled how to relate to people redemptively while not compromising in matters of truth and righteousness. This project details a process for enhancing leadership effectiveness by cultivating self-awareness among church leaders in regard to professional will and personal humility. A survey of literature and scripture is included, as well as tools for cultivating effective interpersonal leadership behavior."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715789857619968,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:52:05.618Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:30:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:28:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a68d862c-58cc-489c-a64c-0d48caef77c0","accessControl_ssim":["b7a10f19-fd9e-41f2-9b02-ca4344ebec92"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'First of all, do no harm': lament in the development of a gentle funeral homiletic"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:30:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:58:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["620eabce-8b23-44e4-90f0-41bf4c5b898d"],"hasLease_ssim":["f4ed8baf-0451-4d98-80ab-bc92eacdc820"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Maribeth Howell"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Francis L Agnoli"],"publisher_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Preaching--Study and teaching","Funeral sermons","Bereavement"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Funeral preachers, in order to minimize the risk of their words doing harm to mourners, must be attentive to God's story (scripture, ritual texts), their own story (history of loss, the theology underlying their preaching), and to the stories of the deceased and the bereaved.
