Participants took part in two three-hour learning sessions focused on congregational governance, strategic planning, and conflict prevention and resolution.  They also received a resource manual and experienced structured devotional exercises.  Participants reported an enhanced sense of preparedness for service following the learning experience. In that context, the Christian church is struggling to renew its voice. This voice must be true to the ancient gospel and yet communicative with postmodern people. No discipline deals more directly with the Christian voice, both prophetic and pastoral, than homiletics. In search of a queer homiletic briefly reviews philosophical influences in church history and the impact of Foucault and Derrida's postmodernism. It explores the arc of liberation theologies leading to Queer Theology and the claims it makes on preaching. Although these shifts are slight, their visible evidenve in the lives of Neo have confused and frustrated Moderns. The main focus of this work is the Western church's misunderstanding of the Neogeist and their initial; refusal to seek an understanding or work with Neo. The project director conducted a literature research exploring the historical, cultural, and theological roots of deaf Americans and the causes of relational distance between deaf and hearing congregants. The project director provided cultural and relational training for selected participants and then volunteers developed relationships with members of the opposite culture. Data collected from a quantitative survey of pre- and post- statements explored relational attitudes concerning personal views within deaf/hearing relationships. Chapter 1 describes the context and rationale for doing the project. Chapter 2 presents a biblical and theological foundation. Specifically, this chapter addresses the Great Commission in the Old and New Tesaments. Chapter 3 examines common leadership principles from spirirual and secular sources. Attention was given to principles that with a biblical basis. Chapter 4 recounts the 15 weeks of training with limited evaluation. Chapter 5 is an analysis and evaluation.
