In order to accomplish this goal, two assumptions regarding forgiveness are made: (1) A discussion of forgiveness must first be grounded in the nature and character of God; and (2) Forgiveness must be understood as a relational issue where sin has caused harm. To understand these two components of forgiveness, a careful study of Genesis 1-4 is undertaken. Agape love from offended to offender establishes the base of forgiveness, and forgiveness must address the dynamics of sin expressed in shame, power, self-righteousness, and rage. These four issues are applicable to both the embezzler and the post-embezzled church. In order to foster forgiveness in the embezzled church, the embezzler must undergo some kind of transformation. Shame should be turned into confession, power into humility, self-righteousness into repentance, and rage into repair."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132298691739648,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:01:10.547Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:58:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cc22527b-769b-40e7-bd96-97f7c7846cfa","accessControl_ssim":["ecac5c3d-41cb-4c72-90d4-bb0b2b7b5cac"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Defibrillation of peace: a Christian clergy's approach towards the restoration of peace in the Nigerian interfaith community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:59:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fe7788bc-6da5-427b-aa3e-ac171cde3a1c"],"hasLease_ssim":["52857218-b27a-4e2c-b670-cb2086fead25"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Elizabeth Conde-Frazier"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Nigeria"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Isaiah Ekundayo Dada"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Religion","Toleration--Religious aspects","Christianity and other religions","Peace movement","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project uses library research, including reviews of published studies, books and articles written from the perspective of peace education, conflict resolution, and reconciliation. The first chapter introduces and delineates the nature and scope of the project. The second chapter provides an overview of the history of Nigeria, describes the current state of violent conflict, and the causes of the conflict. The third chapter highlights the positive and the negative role of religion in Nigeria, defines peace and describes the understanding of peace according to each religion. The fourth chapter identifies teachings that will need to be deconstructed in the major religions that can serve the community to create a dialogue of shalom/salam. The fifth chapter offers the proper way to foster peace through shalom and provides the meaning of reconciliation along with adequate steps toward reconciliation. The sixth chapter focuses on designing an effective curriculum for congregations in order to facilitate peace education. The seventh chapter offers various healthy practices for peace in the Nigerian interfaith community. The approach used to bring about justice has been in the form of protests, political activism and writing political representatives. However, Unitarian Universalism has not intentionally focused on the pastoral care needs of people in their congregations who are most wounded by injustice. This project describes an intentional approach to cross-cultural pastoral care that employs a new integrated multifactorial assessment model to support racial and ethnic diversity in Unitarian Universalist congregations, by calling attention to the significance of culture on the identity formation of individuals who are labeled by the dominant culture as minorities. The empirical results of the testing process used to evaluate the effectiveness of the product, in terms of assimilated believers, gives clear indication of the product designs effectiveness."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132699021279232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:07:32.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:52:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"24ec7085-7ea7-4647-80a6-9505c4371101","accessControl_ssim":["600d746d-bd2b-4ca8-8280-451877e17be3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The teaching ministry of the church: a guide for pastors in preparing candidate for baptism and confirmation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:13:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7257bcea-16b9-4131-a293-0ed645950a12"],"hasLease_ssim":["19cbb24f-5677-48c5-9d02-b67e5b2e22f9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Frank Rogers"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Zimbabwe"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gift Kudakwashe Machinga"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Clergy--Office","Church history","Baptism--Methodist Church","Confirmation--Methodist Church","United Methodist Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project addresses problems of the United Methodist Church in Zimbabwe that have been created by a shortage of Christian education resources, both human and material. The Zimbabwean United Methodist Church is continuing to experience considerable numerical and spiritual growth. However, pastors do not have educational resources which are adequate to train new members and mature old ones. The preparation of candidates for baptism and confirmation is identified as a critical need and the project focuses on developing materials to be used by pastors in this preparation. The intent is to equip pastors with teaching strategies and tools (rather than lesson plans), and material is compiled from historical and biblical perspectives. Resources utilized include conversations with district superintendents and pastors, surveys of church members, and archival material accessed in Zimbabwe. The goal is to encourage pastors and draw them to embrace teaching in their ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131761579655168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:38.318Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:52:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0b49a947-59de-4ce5-8466-d5ed1ebac924","accessControl_ssim":["e1070e1f-bf31-4339-9524-588f6abb304b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A comparative study on the mission policies of the Korean churches a paradigm for beyond A.D. 2000"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:25:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["19cc52c8-dcee-4aec-93ed-21a609dadec6"],"hasLease_ssim":["b4438f6e-76af-4152-90a0-64c39f79a297"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Cho"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Dal Soo Kim"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary (Portland, OR)"],"subject_tesim":["Missions--Theory"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The Mission Right-Way Movement, advocated by Inter-Mission International, the oldest non-denominational faith mission agency in Korea, has inspired the writer to ascertain the current state of the mission policies of the Korean church. By so doing he aims a proposing a new paradigm for mission policies. Focusing on the Korean Presbyterian Church, the primary objectives were : 1) to shed new light on the historical roots of world missions in the Korean church and weigh the biblical and theological basis of missions in the Korean church; 2) to compare various mission policies of denominational mission boards and agencies, then propose new policy directions; 3) to set the future task of the Korean missions as a 'peace mission' building a unified national church in preparation for the ultimate unification of the two Koreas; 4) to submit a new mission policy paradigm for the Korean church in the 21st century and prepare for shifts in world affairs. These should lead to a more accurate assessment of the current state of Korean missions and to propose practical solutions for minimizing its weakness as well as maximizing its strengths."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131724515639296,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:02.971Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:46:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"87eda86b-930d-4046-8f2e-81a060d5b538","accessControl_ssim":["40f4437b-9ab7-47e0-bdea-1521b01d8645"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Bioethical education in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:08:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["37033bb6-7701-4a49-ad8f-4c5d21024b6e"],"hasLease_ssim":["f36c2364-6188-4631-9d80-5ec4c2e052d0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["John Frederic Kilner"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Willie Edgar Honeycutt"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Church and education","Moral education","Bioethics--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Present and prospective biotechnologies require local churches to educate congregants in bioethics.
