The class was based on the four essential aspects of preaching: exegesis, homiletics, communication and spirituality. The research method was program development and evaluation. Both quantitative and qualitative measures were employed to determine that it was in fact possible to train preachers to preach. These adults constitute the leading edge of the Boomer generation (approximately ages 50 to 61) in transition to McGregor Baptist Church's Senior Adult Ministry. The project director's professional goals included research. The research focused on current resources, strategies, and insights available concerning the Boomer generation as it becomes a new wave in older adult ministry. The research helped to establish benchmarks and standards upon which to build. The project director also developed a strategy for ministry to emerging senior adults using a strategy team. In this project, an intertextual reading of the Song of Songs unfolds a beauty that is objective, that reveals the distance of delight between God and creation. This project examines the theological perspectives of Saint Augustine, Jonathan Edwards, and David Bentley Hart, all of who work toward trinitarian theologies of beauty. Boards of directors governing their sponsored ministries are charged with assuring their mission and spiritual heritage continues to permeate corporate life. This study contributes to illumining boards' collaborative participation in expressing charism through mission, as it affects their service, and sponsors' own understanding of their charism. Engaging practical theological methodology, it brings the charism and mission of one congregation into conversation with current board leadership literature and with contextual experience of boards. To gain an understanding of how abuse of women has become widespread, the project director researched and provided current statistics on abused women. Educational and social work professionals were enlisted to review materials utilized in the development of the workshop. Texts were utilized to explain the cycle of violence. Dynamics, myths, and legal issues of abuse were explored. The project enabled the staff members to advocate for and empower women entrapped in abuse. Case studies provided sensitive information on responding to victims of abuse. Teaching methods used allowed staff members to explore the dynamics of abuse. The Book of Jude is used as an example of dealing with Gnosticism's influence on the congregation. Then an historical analysis of Irenaeus's christology in his anti-Gnostic work shows the importance of affirming the deity of the historical Jesus when addressing Gnostic trends.
