The lament is that while it arose from the early Church's experience of God, it has become understood in abstract terms. It is feared that for most, the doctrine has little impact on piety and ethic. Yet little has been done to engage congregational members in the discussion. This elision from worship, education, and devotional practices is analyzed from feminist and ecofeminist standpoints as a kyriarchal cultural construction which structures perceptions of reality into an interlocking patrix of impasses based on A/not-A dichotomies. This ministry project bypasses malestream impasses by constructing an ecofeminist spiritual practice around a model of braided stream systems borrowed from the geological sciences. The congregation participated in a seven-week course on corporate prayer. Through surveys and a filmed group evaluation, the project director was able to assess the effectiveness of the project. To empower Christian educators, they participated in ten training sessions learning biblical, theological, and historical information, as well as teaching strategies and learning styles. Christian education is the vehicle used to assist in the faith formation of students as they move towards social action. Methodology used for qualitative data collection included a pre-survey, need assessment, and post-survey. The project director wrote a 40 Days of Mission Small Group Handbook and six sermons designed to develop a passion for personal, local and global mission. Effectiveness was measured using evaluations of the sermon hearers, the small group participants, and the leaders of Grace. Through personal study, conversations with people in the church, and biblical material, I have attempted to understand the characteristics of the postmodern seeker. The homiletical response to the seeker will focus upon the biblical story that God is the most important seeker.
