The author researched the scriptural mandate for using biblical narratives to teach children about God, and the potential usefulness of developmental theories for children ages 7 to 11.  Participants in the project were trained according to the findings of the research.  After being trained, they taught a new curriculum that reflects the research findings.  Data from focus groups and surveys measured changes in the workers' attitudes and understandings. It then applied that theology for empowerment to improve sub-standard housing conditions for Lao.  The research identified, described, and held in conversation three influential contexts of 'bamboo, borders, and bricks' for Lao theology, and applied these contexts to create Christian responses to poor housing through biblical and folk stories, re-worked housing rituals, and community organizing with artistic poetry, songs, and visuals. Mission-minded, global Christians? Information for this research was gathered from students at Atlanta Christian College who participated on short-term mission trips. They were surveyed to determine how the trips influenced them. The research demonstrates that students who had already considered career missionary service found additional encouragement to pursue mission ministry. This research project proposes a way of understanding the needs of immigrants, especially those who are first-generation Hispanic. A theology of pastoral care as described in the experience of the Israelites in Exodus and in their exile experience in Babylon is used as a departure point and reference for a caring response to the needs of immigrants. Personal histories are included to give voice to the multiple and complex challenges facing immigrants. Time, space, and money utilization was analyzed against attendance. Research showed that the church closely reflects neighborhood demographics. Most ministry occurs Sunday mornings. Adults receive sixty percent of resources. Through a resident school and community center, the church serves at-risk children and youth. The teen-agers in its own outreach program receive five times the per capita resources spent on its elementary-aged children. The report recommends that more resources be directed to children. After carefully defining a theology of expository preaching, this project utilized the gifts and abilities of seven evangelical pastors to each preach twice, and then critically evaluate and comment on the messages of the other six, over a six month time frame. It was primarily accomplished over the internet.
