Following comprehensive research, a six-session workshop was developed. Session topics included a missional overview, prayer, incarnational living, saturation evangelism, reproduction, and missional leadership. Sessions were taught during a one-day workshop. How do clergy move beyond their own insecurity, and how do they teach their congregation to do the same?  How do we create a loving church environment when we have so many questions? While youth ere assisted in thinking theologically through the retreat, this should have happened earlier in life. Recruits attending the Lutheran Communion Service and catechetical instruction at MCRD, San Diego, CA, expressed grave concern over the morality of killing in combat. This project explored the pastoral care of Marine Recruits using Luther's explanation of the Fifth Commandments, the Fourth Commandment, and the historic just war tradition. The director researched aspects of postmodernity relating to the church and effective ways of beginning spiritual conversations with people possessing both modern and postmodern worldviews.  The director also discovered spiritual interests of people with varying church experience.  Teaching materials were developed and group members were trained in a compressed training format of six sessions over a four-day period.
