With the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Bermuda half its former size, and the United Church of Canada struggling with shrinking resources, both question the value of union.  This project proposes changes which address past wounds and will enable the relationship to fulfill its original ecumenical mission of proclaiming Christ's ministry of reconciliation.  The project examines the history of the fifteen-year conflict, as experienced by persons involved, in light of ecumenical literature. Another goal was to describe key elements that might be used for further research in a pilot study. I used the observational method of qualitative research. I concluded that the oral history interview and oral history coding system are effective ways to provide couples with useable feedback on ten dimensions of satisfaction within their marriage. The process used to reach this goal was to, first, educate the deacons on the need of the church to take intentional steps in the assimilating adult new members.  Second, the deacons were trained and given strategic roles in the assimilation process. The strategy is a plan to help families of divorce and remarriage to integrate into Eastside and to help them grow in their walk with Christ.  Although some people may be saved, the project is not primarily about evangelism.  The strategy is a plan for discipling of blended families through Eastside Baptist Church of Orlando.  The project examined Eastside Baptist Church of Orlando and the ability of the church to expand ministry to integrate blended families. Chapter 1 introduces this preaching project and the ministry context of First Baptist Church, Camden, Arkansas.  Chapter 2 identifies five types of illustrations used in the Bible.  They are an anecdote, a historical event, parables, Scripture, and visual aids.  Chapter 3 moves from the Bible to the preaching of today.  The first part of chapter 3 identifies types of preaching illustrations. Part two gives examples of sources of illustrations, and part three summarizes the illustration techniques and practices of five famous Christian preachers.  Chapter 4 is a week-by-week account of my 1 Peter preaching project.  It includes pre-sermon series questionnaires, individual sermon questionnaires, and post-sermon series questionnaires.  Chapter 5 is an evaluation of the entire project.  Data is analyzed.  The process is critiqued. The researcher assumes a positive correlation between personal transformation and demonstrating Equipping Leadership competencies. Self-awareness is a fundamental component of personal transformation. The pastoral staff of First Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio undertook a seven-week formation experience designed to increase their self-awareness around seven delimited foci. The researcher evaluated project efficacy using a mixed methods approach involving assessments and interviews.
