The project consisted of a focus group of thirteen pastors participating in a workshop forum. A quantitative research design was used with pre and post-tests. The hypothesis addresses the problem of a lack of an available systematic servant leadership-training model, which could better equip laity and incumbent deacons in carrying out the duties of the office of deacon more effectively.  A qualitative action research methodology consisting of pre and posttest questionnaire was used to measure understanding and attitude changes based on completion of the instructional training modules. The methodology of this study comprised the design and selection of three instruments, the application of the surveys, and data analysis.  The findings enabled the researcher to create a profile of the observed community. Deacons will participate in joint ministry with a growing church in a similar ministry context. Deacons will assess the church's present ministry in a one-day retreat. Deacons' attitudes will be challenged through a survey of unchurched nonbelievers in the community. Deacons will examine biblical ministry mandates in a ten-week seminar. In the final two meetings, deacons will formulate plans for involving other church members in ministry, reflecting their changed attitudes and behavior in ministry. Church who had experienced the loss of a loved one.  The model embraced the existence of current and ancestral grief as the unique grief experienced by African Americans when their loved ones die.  The project offered comfort and empowerment through recognition, confrontation and reconciliation of this unique grief.  The researcher conducted triangulation qualitative research, using interview, survey and focus group methodology.  This project consisted of a five-phase program in which bereaved members of Ebenezer participated. In this study the authors surveyed pastors who are looking to hire associate staff, seeking to ascertain their level of understanding and preparedness for the task at hand.  The research revealed that most churches and their pastors have not agreed on a process for hiring associate pastors.  The author concludes that it is the senior pastor who should lead the search for kindred spirit team members. The project involved interviewing twenty people.  Fourteen interviews of de-churched or previously de-churched people were done by the author.  A focus group of six then met to be interviewed and to help with a sermon series.  The author found that de-churched people are like others who are longing for preaching that is relevant and relates the Bible to life.
