Mentors were enlisted for training in biblical principles concerning the ministry of mentorship, the happy functioning of a Christian family, and the distinctive biblical teachings concerning the various family roles. Training consisted of four sessions which were held on a Friday evening and a Saturday morning as part of a seminar for senior adults. The project director wrote and presented a vision for mentoring ministry and the path for the steps needed to achieve the vision. The experiences of planning the seminar, teaching the seminar, and evaluating the seminar provided valuable insight into the process of training senior adult mentors. The project director became convinced that faithful Christian senior adults are the greatest untapped resource for instruction and encouragement in family living for younger adults. The senior adults of Maytown Baptist Church became enriched in their knowledge and desire to serve succeeding generations in Christian family living."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719635294093312,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:53:12.912Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:46:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:56:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ccc4af33-eaed-46f1-8b59-634d8677ac48","accessControl_ssim":["891c4221-6840-4112-b7df-57b667b122e6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping a select group of young married couples of the First Baptist Church of Alexander City, Alabama, in principles of personal financial management"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:46:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:00:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0d2543b1-6594-4cdc-9fd3-7b1eee0c44a7"],"hasLease_ssim":["d6c19ba6-a9ed-4521-be60-01b538d07c8f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Tate Cockrell"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Eric G Fuller"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","First Baptist Church (Alexander City, Ala)","Accounting"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to equip selected young married couples of the First Baptist Church of Alexander City, Alabama, in principles of personal financial management. The project director researched demographics, interviewed national pastors and international missionaries, studied cultural nuances, and accumulated other data in order to understand the cultural and religious context in which a new church would be planted. From this collected data, the project director developed a strategy that involved the usage of a team approach to planting a new church. The International Mission Board regional leadership for Brazil decided to delay any action on the strategy developed for this project because of logistical problems related to the fact that the region was in the midst of a major transition. The Eastern and Western South America Regions were joined to form the South American Region. The new region consisting of ten nations called for a realignment of leadership and a change in strategy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720217231753216,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:02:27.890Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:45:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:53:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8ecac106-7737-4ec6-979b-7e5dbd39cb37","accessControl_ssim":["b76db0de-cd17-4f48-97f6-be03b314fcc6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Leading selected church members in developing a ministry-driven strategy for family members of chemically addicted persons in Cashaw Baptist Church of Harvest, Alabama"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:45:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:18:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["78a92425-f627-41fc-8925-0bcadae032bd"],"hasLease_ssim":["1a793515-8124-442e-82c6-7d4cb0a19482"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Argile Asa Smith"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William H Ashford"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with addicts","Drug abuse","Capshaw Baptist Church (Harvest, Ala)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop a ministry-driven strategy to comfort family members affected by chemical addictions in Capshaw Baptist Church of Harvest, Alabama. The strategy was then to be presented to members of Capshaw Baptist Church (CBC) for consideration for adoption. The project was to lead a selected group of members in the development of a strategy that would serve as a ministry plan to address the emotional and spiritual needs of families suffering from chemical addictions in CBC. The team was to utilize selected principles from Aubrey Malphurs' process of advanced strategic planning. Research for the project centered upon the discovery of available resources directed toward the family member of the addicted person. The student researched the availability of existing local church ministries or programs for family members of addicted persons, and Christian-based addiction recovery programs in the state that touched on the family members' need in the recovery process. The research also included the evaluation of available resources discovered through Turning Point, a Christian clearinghouse for recovery materials."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715877899206656,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:53:29.581Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:45:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:58:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a1d0e6f9-6ef7-483c-888e-66216901cbed","accessControl_ssim":["a7fa05c4-b802-4ff1-8ffd-106b2bdeaa7a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Understanding and preaching about recovery from a Twelve Step perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:45:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:50:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2569ae0e-0529-4e31-90eb-25eca4a1feaf"],"hasLease_ssim":["8dc8d9e1-b398-47aa-888e-0e761eff3b7d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Iliff School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard F Ward"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Sarah Marie Young"],"publisher_tesim":["Iliff School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Twelve-step programs","Social aspects","Alcoholics Anonymous","Preaching","God--History of doctrines"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project addresses the lack of understanding between Christian congregations and Twelve Step-based spiritual recovery programs.
