A thirty member listening group will provide reaction to content and direction of the preached sermons. The author compared a control group of Maasai pastors and the respective congregations studying the Theological Education by Extension (TEE) textbook of 1 Corinthians with a test group of Maasai pastors and their respective congregations learning the text by the narrative paradigm (storying). The test group outperformed the control group in tangible oral tests derived from the TEE textbook over a ten week period. In order to achieve this objective, the project leader enlisted nine people for training as a part of the project. The director preached eight sermons on various aspects of prayer and developed materials for eight sessions of instruction for nine people who composed the small group. These sermons and materials for the appendices. These nine people have become the catalysts for the implementation of an intercessory prayer ministry which was launched on June 5, 2005. The first goal is to understand the nature and discern the basic principles of intercessory prayer within the teachings of Jesus. Second is to develop an intercessory prayer ministry at the Lafayette Korean Baptist Church. The project leader's method for the implementation of these goals is to select a group of nine people and teach them the foundational elements on prayer that are found in the teachings of Jesus and to offer pragmatic opportunities to pray. This project will last for eight weeks. The final goal is to equip this core group for leadership responsibilities in launching a perennial intercessory ministry in their church. This project provides laymen with a short-term introduction to and training in ministry to commuter college students.  Lay volunteers from several churches served four hours one day a week for six weeks in six ministry activities on campus.  The project took place during the first six weeks of the school year on a commuter college campus comprised of three institutions with a total enrollment of 33,000 students. This will be done by developing and initiating a ministry plan for equipping members of First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas. This local church will serve as the platform for this ministry plan. The ministry plan includes preaching messages on evangelism and the importance of discipleship. It involves teaching a seven week class to equip volunteers to evangelize Chinese students, including lessons on the biblical foundation for the need of salvation, the cultural and social needs of Chinese students, effective models for ministry, relationship building, the importance of witnessing, the introduction of tracts and videos, and the importance of baptism. The time frame for the ministry plan will begin with a two week plan for preaching the messages, nine weeks for recruiting ad equipping volunteers with an interest in Chinese student ministry, and one week for evaluation. Phase one will consist of the establishment of a group composed of ten to twelve postmodern persons. This group will be surveyed, interviewed, and will participate in a group discussion of issues relevant to the postmodern. The project leader will facilitate these meetings over a ten-week period. This group will seek to add new members weekly through the outreach efforts of the participants. Attendance records will be maintained, and the assimilation of postmoderns into the church will be measured via the Bible study ministry of the church. In the second phase a group of twenty to twenty-five church leaders will be assimilated to help evaluate how the church is responding to the needs of postmoderns. These participants will be surveyed and interviewed and will participate in a discussion of issues identified by the postmodern participants. The knowledge of these church leaders will be measured via pre and post tests. Phase three will be implemented in the worship service through a series of sermons designed to address the needs of a postmodern generation. Participants of both groups will conduct an analysis of the worship. The purpose of this project is to develop and enhance the church's efforts to engage postmoderns and to claim the postmodern context for Jesus Christ. It is built upon a biblical framework that offers the Christian worldview as plausible and credible to the postmodern person. I will also determine if clergy morale and the burn-out rate are directly related to whether or not one has a committed and disciplined spiritual life. The project compiles information collected from an anonymous survey distributed among local church clergy in the Central Texas Conference. The practicum/project was begun in January, 2005, after the survey had been created the previous November. Surveys were collected over a six week period and then the information was tallied over the next three months. Those completing the requested information were told verbally or in writing that it was an anonymous survey and they were not to sign it anywhere on the three-page questionnaire. This project is designed, through an expository sermon, to reintroduce the listener to a premarital process (courtship) that in the past produced more solid and committed marriages in the history of America, but unfortunately has been long forgotten. In this study a pre-sermon survey was taken to cull the respondents' preconceived ideas about the subject of courtship followed by the preaching of a message on the subject of virtue of courtship rather than traditional American dating. Following the preaching of the sermon, a post-sermon survey was taken to see if the respondents' opinions had changed based on the information they received from the sermon. Did this sermon persuade the respondents to change their opinion and consider the premarital process of courtship as a more virtuous process than traditional dating? That is the answer this project seeks to find out.
