Significant findings include the following: 1. Hosting a Celebrate Jesus mission caused pastors to change their perception about their roles in their local churches; 2. Pastors who intentionally set up new systems in their churches to continue mission work experienced the most satisfaction;  and, 3. Using the case study of a local church in an identity crisis and its gay ministers, this project utilizes interviews, sermons, small group discussions, conversations with church members, and surveys to formulate a lesbian and gay homiletic. The objective of this project was to begin the process of getting the congregation the author serves to engage in ministry with other congregations and organizations.  As a result of this collaborative effort, a Shalom Zone and Community Development Corporation was developed. Both of these proved helpful to communities characterized by social fragmentation.  The methodology employed was that of action research through the use of group meetings, questionnaires, and journaling. This research uses a focus group interview method to record individual conversion narratives. The literature review focuses on the mission of the church, evangelism, conversion, the Holy Spirit's role in conversion, and evidences of conversion. The findings are threefold. First, conversion narratives at Vineyard Church of Columbus do not reflect traditional evangelical conversion categories. Second, the narratives did reflect a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. The project began with a questionnaire concerning spiritual gifts and one's purpose in the church. Next, a three part sermon series on spiritual gifts was used to educate and inspire members to participate in the seminar. During the seminar, students took inventories to discover their spiritual gifts, passions, personality, and temperament types and completed a ministry resume form. The author examines the New Testament terms 'elder,' 'overseer,' and 'pastor,' asking how associate pastors fit into the mix.  He then examines Scriptural examples of men who held positions akin to 'associate' status, who were later elevated to senior leadership ranks -- Joshua, Elisha, the disciples, and Timothy. Field research consisted of interviewing six senior pastors who formerly were associate pastors.  From these interviews the author compiled a list of activities to prepare himself for the transition from an associate to a senior pastorate, and then reported on the fulfillment of the activities. The research methodology is as follows.  First of all the literary analysis of narrative forms will be explained.  Since the Book of Ruth is of the story type, exegesis of this book through the narrative form seems to be a very good method used.  Then, the elements of narrative are used in interpreting the Book of Ruth.  Finally, we will explain how to apply the life stories of the main characters as told in the analyzed narrative of the Book of Ruth to the situations people confront today.
