Using the Delphi technique, ministry professors and practitioners recommended 892 knowledge, attitude, and skill outcomes. These were synthesized to 99 outcome statements that were rank-ordered on a Likert scale resulting in the ten most effective outcomes for each domain. The final round of the Delphi elicited preferred learning experiences and assessment techniques. A self-evaluation strategy was used to focus on the purpose of the church.  The congregation assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the church, and the church board studied its purpose. Departmental leaders prepared action plans based on a revised mission statement and thirteen new goals, and made periodic progress reports. The church was not growing because it had become institutionalized. This dissertation describes a process for the calling of associate pastors.  The hiring of associate staff pastors, while containing similar elements to the hiring of senior pastors, is a different process which needs to reflect its own uniqueness.  Drawing upon interviews with pastors of large congregations and interviews with corporation leaders of major companies and industries, the writer seeks to devise a new methodology not currently employed. 'Bisser' evangelism grew out of the reading of Walter Brueggemann's book, Israel's Praises, classes and workshops, and the ministry projects with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Elgin, Ill), which existed in a changing neighborhood. When the runner contacts with another through the four dimensions of life (sociological, psychological, theological, and literary), 'Bisser' evangelism involves thinking one's own faith and the faith and life's dimensions of the other. A review of recent literature reveals the evaluation of the Prayer Summit movement, city-wide crusades and other efforts to come together.  The acceptance of diversity and its relation to changes in our society is also discussed. Several key passages in the Bible are examined to determine the key principles for unity to occur among believers and the place diversity has in that experience.  A survey was conducted of pastors in the writer's local community to identify the current perspective of unity with diversity. Basic beliefs are delineated that are viewed as essential for unity as well as a clarification of the issues that are understood as acceptable areas of diversity in the Body of Christ.
