A personal health inventory (PHI) was developed to help alleviate irrational fears of AIDS for those whose lifestyle did not put them at risk of infection.  The inventory was also administered to six AIDS awareness seminars in American Baptist churches of Maine. Results indicated that a PHI could help alleviate a person's fear of infection if their lifestyle did not put them at risk as thirty-three out of sixty-five respondents indicated that the PHI helped alleviate their fear. Churches and para-church organizations need to be more aware of the opportunities to expand this support base afforded by the ethnic and cultural changes taking place. This study has potential value and significance for churches and para-church organizations in that the Canadian Bible Society (CBS) could serve as a model for restructuring organizations. The aim, through individual interviews of pastors and a group session, was to determine if there is a recreation of family of origin issues by the pastor while interacting with the church.  The conclusion is that there is strong evidence of the unconscious projection, onto the difficult church, of pastors' personality dynamics, developed in relation to their family of origin and triggered by the personality dynamics of the church. The author realized that his ministry could be significantly hampered because it lacked pertinent developmental understanding of his parishioners.  The project's process involved three primary components: individual interviews with subsequent Fowlerian interpretations, a group evaluative meeting, and a concluding questionnaire. The project took place within a congregation in the United Church of Canada and involved 36 session members who were responsible with the minister for the congregation's spiritual oversight. Both quantitative and qualitative data were derived from a six-session (15 hour) seminar with eight religious professionals, half ordained and half not.  The first three sessions taught a thorough concept of codependency and integrated it with psychodynamics and theology.  The last three sessions provided a process to look for evidences of codependency in personal ministry activities. A survey from Converts, Dropouts, Returnees: a Study of Religious Change Among Catholics by Dr Dean Hoge (1981) identifying intermarried Protestants as the greatest source of new Catholics was adapted to measure the opposite flow of intermarried Catholics into Trinity. Criteria for inclusion in the study were that Ignatian spiritual directors: 1) be presently engaged in the practice of spiritual direction; 2) had personally experienced a Spiritual Exercise retreat; and 3) practiced the Ignatian method of spiritual direction. A semi-structured interview was conducted with each director. The data indicated that spiritual directors understood what resistance was but were less able to articulate how they handled resistance to change exhibited by directees. The methodology employed the Factorial Survey Approach among laypersons in congregations of American Baptist, Church of the Brethren, and General Conference Mennonite denominations.  The hypothesis that a double standard exists in laypersons' expectations of the integrity of ordained versus non-ordained church leadership was not supported by the data collected. The author's interviews with women reveal a great deal of pain and anger over being in such marriages.
