Pre and post-project surveys demonstrated that clergy are more informed regarding the nature of Epiphany than about its historical development, liturgical celebration, and educational observance. Women may not be adequately prepared to assume such leadership positions.  Power and authority are important issues identified by women in pastoral ministry.  Feminist understandings of power and authority are examined from theological, historical and psychological perspectives. Principles of a feminist theory and theology of leadership are applied to case studies of women currently ministering in solo pastor, senior pastor and co-pastor positions. Yet the church has within its tradition the cycle of the liturgical year, a resource of immeasurable power in assisting persons of faith build, shape and strengthen their identity as disciples of Jesus Christ. Meaningful, well thought-out liturgical events are extremely effective in developing Christian identity, an identity that can prevail against the other words and other stories that would coopt and destroy the unique identity of the church. Significant research which provided the foundation for the reorganization process included: a demographic analysis of Hebron; the composition of a constitution and by-laws; and an analysis of state and federal welfare programs available to residents of eastern Connecticut.
