The writer worked with a small group of people who kept journals and shared life experiences around metaphors for the Christian seasons.  The method of research was qualitative in that the writer was a participant observer using Whitehead's model of theological reflection. The project began with the hypothesis that the congregation had an inadequate understanding of the purpose and function of the funeral service.  The congregation demonstrated the validity of the hypothesis after completing a congregational survey.  Eleven church members participated in a study of the funeral service as worship.  The study involved three sermons, five teaching sessions, and two workshop classes. A series of sermons and sermon interactions was utilized to increase the congregation's awareness of the need for training new adult members in discipleship.  A curriculum was designed that consisted of ten discipleship training sessions.  To determine the effectiveness of the program, the experimental research method was used. Positive attitudinal changes were affected in deacons and church members toward supportive counseling. Based on God's design of marriage as a sharing of total oneness, the project emphasized that this oneness of relationship includes spiritual oneness. The marriage enrichment program was designed to enhance intimacy spiritually and in the total relationship.  The concept of shared prayer time served to enhance and to express spiritual oneness. The director researched the appropriate materials at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Library and his personal library.  He made research notations and collated the material for use in the model project.  A discipler workshop and a twelve-week training program was implemented among the project participants.
