An examination of the curriculum known as 'Disciple: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study' suggested that this Bible study would address many church renewal concerns. The practicum was designed as an evaluation of Disciple which would be accomplished through its use in the candidate's parish and a series of twenty-seven interviews. The first key finding is that Disciple is a Bible study which should be used in every local church. Twelve marriage enrichment sessions were designed and facilitated.  Through research it was discovered that the biblical goal for marriage is a growing intimacy.  It was then assumed that this goal is achieved through responsible communication. It was also assumed that responsible communication can be effectively learned through the dynamic process of experiential learning using a special form of communication known as couple dialogue. The project takes seriously the pastoral aspect  of preaching within the church and uses this general pastoral approach to preaching.  It examines the process by which the listener is involved in the preparation phase of preaching and how the relationships with the preacher, with other group members, and with the preaching material can make a difference in the impact of the sermon on the hearer.  The project was conducted over a six-week period of time.  A small group of nine laity were recruited from a suburban United Methodist Church in Rowlett, Texas.  This small group met with the pastor weekly to consider the sermon text for the Sunday morning worship.  Three sermons were preached from narrative texts in the book of Genesis. Although the main goal of the group was to explore the biblical text, special care was taken to make sure that relationships were developed in the small group experience for each participant. The project utilizes 'logotherapy' and the understanding of the 'wilderness' wanderings of the Isrealite people and Jesus' own experiences in the wilderness to propose a framework for turning faith crises into faith transformations.  This project is intended to impact the training of seminary students and hospital chaplains. A centuries-old tradition which denies the integrity of initiation challenges the church.  This study reviews the history of Christian initiation, focusing on its disintegration, and reports an attempt to reintegrate Christian initiation in one congregation. The intentional process included an invitation to and a decision to participate, workshops in skills, mentoring, and evaluation.  Skills, taught in 'Growth Sessions', gave practice through group and individual processes.  Support through mentoring and evaluation was very important in encouraging persons in their growth.
