The early Methodists experienced renewal and revival as they explored alternative and innovative missional models. The author conducted a survey among United Methodist clergy and laity to investigate the need for change and innovation in their congregations and what tools would help both leaders and churches thrive. Additionally, the author interviewed modern innovative Methodists who in their work are modeling a new way of being church today. This paper asserts that the church can find new donors for their charitable mission work by looking beyond church membership, and in this way can expand its vision for what the kingdom of God can look like in its community. The author interviewed generous people unaffiliated with Christian congregations and shared the insights from these interviews with local church leaders, who then imagined how to connect new people to mission work. As a result of the shared insight, church leaders expressed an expanded vision of whom they could involve in mission projects. People often find themselves going in a hundred directions. Without the ability for sustained focus, they struggle to remain fully present to the things that matter most. This loss of attentiveness can result in a devastating loss of connectedness (i.e., being fully present) to what God is doing, to the condition of one's self, and to how we are connected to others. To test this hypothesis, silence is introduced using disciplines such as solitude, meditation, and spiritual journaling. To fulfill the goal of the project, Soldiers and Civilians from the United States Army Cyber Command and United States Army Chaplain School and Center completed a seven-day devotional (including fasting from social media). Also, surveys and personal interviews were conducted to gain feedback. Through theological engagement with the subject of Biblical abundance, this project paper will articulate how a church can move from the power of a belief in scarcity to a practical holiness rooted in professing God's good news. Through small group conversations, experiential worship services, Bible studies, a sermon series, and intentional formation efforts, First United Methodist Church has grown in its orientation towards Biblical abundance, renewed religious identity and revitalization. Examination of the words of Jesus in Matthew 25: 31-46 through the lens of missional theology established that caring for our neighbors is vital to our faith and discipleship. To evaluate community needs, the author used qualitative research tools including data collection, independent experts, and purposive and snowball sampling. Demographic information and community needs were also assessed through data collection using MissionInsite. The congregation was educated on the needs of the community and their call, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to care for those needs through a sermon series. Analysis of the data suggests that a church-sponsored Family Resource Center to connect people with resources is important. However, the author concluded that this is not the sole focus for the church. I examine a new model of planting church through the success of San Francisco Bay Area's 'Embrace Church,' a church led by and oriented toward second-generation Korean Americans. Can Jeonnong Methodist Church be established as a green community church that accepts the environmental crisis and responds to it as an essential issue of faith? And can this environmental practice become a valid tool for communicating with the church's surrounding region? Then will the church show a way to move forward as a village church? The three mission theologies discussed in this paper are suggested as methods to overcome this problem. The first is ecumenical mission theology. This theology is used as the perspective for looking at environmental and ecological problems. The second is 'Laudato si'', written by Pope Francis. The integrated ecology presented in 'Laudato si'' gives a deep insight into practical theology with a strong foundation in spiritual theology. The third is the village ministry theory, which has recently been spotlighted as a natural result of local ecumenism. Environmental faith inherently aims for recovery by using communication and harmony. Field observation, brief questionnaires, and small group conversations revealed reduced anxiety following these interventions. Reflections were informed by a study of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15. Descriptions, acknowledgement and acceptance of clergy anxiety led to lower anxiety thus benefitting the congregation. Traditional practices including prayer, hymn-singing, and book study focused congregational energy and reduced anxiety. Appropriate use of gentle humor, learning about diversity, and appreciating diversity, reduced tension, thus defusing situations before they could explode.
