While not all churches fall under this generalization, the evidence presented in this project suggests many fail to celebrate or acknowledge the Spirit's presence in their worship services, sermons, and classes. However, the research conducted in this project shows a positive relationship between a biblical course on the doctrine of the Spirit and an increased knowledge of the doctrine, positive attitudes toward the Spirit, and an increased personal reliance upon the Spirit. Six men who were involved in Christian men's mentorship ministry programmes in Jamaica were interviewed to ascertain what social benefits, spiritual benefits, and personal development benefits can be derived from a men's mentorship programme in the Jamaican context. The study is a basic qualitative research. An interview schedule was developed and administered over a two month period, the data was analyzed, and benefits/themes identified. The methodology undertaken was Participatory Action Research and included resident surveys, missional health assessments, and interviews. Project participants met for four two-hour sessions to discuss the weekly reading and their responses to the process questions. Participants were given a pre-test and post-test questionnaire to measure the impact of the reading upon their spiritual growth. It aims to contribute to the spiritual formation of city congregants as they engage their neighbours. Using action research, sixteen members of a Toronto congregation participated and viewed their life as a context for mission. They studied Christ's discipleship in Matthew's gospel and reflected on the missio Dei, God's missionary character and initiative to redeem his creation.They partnered with agencies to initiate community service. The project design included administrationof pre-text and post-test five point Likert scale assessment to capture the knowledge, attitude and action of participants on the subject matter and evaluation of the study. The project design included the administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires and the completion of weekly spiritual assignments. The results using the formational curriculum revealed that the participants were able to identify the presence of grief and process through their emotions and loss. Recognizing that there are many facets to preaching, i.e., preacher's persona and theological skill-set, this study attempts to settle on a localized operative theology of preaching.  A preacher's operative theology involves the preacher's specific influences that shape his/her preaching.  Some of these influences stem deep in the historical past, particularly to the Enlightenment, and eventually splintering in various directions.  Yet, there are contemporary emphases that can dictate a preaching style, emphases that energetically affect congregations along the spiritual pathways of healing, liberation and reconciliation. This localized operative theology of preaching finds restorative justice programs as an agreeable partner.  Restorative justice, as an aboriginal cultural contribution, stands against Western-style notions of justice, especially intent on punishment for offenses.  Restorative justice programs, assuming the form of a Circle model of dialogue, are designed to help participants heal and empower each other.  Circles are founded on the principle that social wounds are not isolated events.  This idea that crimes are connected to systemic problems characterizes a shift that leads to greater community responsibility in the healing process. The mutuality regarding the partnership between preaching and Circle models involves a pedagogical strategy in that both ministries reinforce each other.  Circles could continue the preaching conversation, empower a congregational preaching voice, help connect the preacher and the congregation, shape a communal theological reflection, help concretize theology, and help dismantle alienating ideologies by encouraging authentic feeling and positive values.  This Circle resource prevents an individualist pedagogy in regard to preaching in favor of the team concept.
