He argues that all layers of church structure with the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod should be understood as expressions of ecclesia and so are in mission. The intent was to create a worship experience that is vibrant and dynamic, thereby promoting growth and evangelism. Field research was conducted on over sixty churches that had reproduced at least three churches over a twenty-year period. Churches were first surveyed with a questionnaire and the six churches, that planted a total of sixty-two churches, were selected for in-depth interviews. These were purposively selected for their diverse areas, sizes, denominations and styles. Six primary and eight secondary leaders were interviewed. Prayer is both traditional and transformational, not offending the staunchest traditionalist or the most starry-eyed transformationalist.  It is perhaps the best natural construct for religious identity, understanding and development. From the viewpoint of change theology, all of these developments may be the manifestation of a natural process of aging.  What would happen if instead of resisting these changes, we processed them as stepping stones to a new spiritual maturity? A survey offering ideals evaluated how well pastors yielded to God within their ministry vocations. Demographics provided insight into detailed kenotic inclination. As a result, pastors showed areas of resistance and embrace of kenosis. Demographics illustrated kenosis highly among female clergy and deacons. Length of time in ministry reflected an ebb and flow. The resource was evaluated by ten experts.
