From the preaching of eight sermons in a medium-sized RCA church in central New Jersey, the project identified elements that help people to learn Bible passages heretofore unknown to them, including a sermon style matching the genre of the text, re-contextualization, functional equivalence, and the passion of the preacher. This study uses qualitative methods through use of questionnaire to find out what factors relate to numerical growth in congregational membership. The study combines responses from survey of congregational worshippers and leaders from a random sample of 110 members of Bethlehem Reformed Church of God. Results point to: Narrow view of ministry and mission; centralized hierarchical clergy and; their inability to enhance practical help for particularly needy youth members, and children as factors in ensuring and promoting growth. A youth-based ministry workshop served as a means to research the participant's resistance levels.  Follow-up research tested for differences between theory and practice. Thus, their confidence in providing this care is low. The thesis hypothesized and argued is that the project based upon this thesis would show that an intensive five-day curriculum with a three-month follow-up program would increase the confidence level of the participants. The five-day curriculum trained the participants in intensive disaster emotional and spiritual care leadership. The 6 stresses are finances, time, pressure for results, isolation, penetrating a closed rural system, and lack of preparation in seminary. It examines the biblical basis of marriage, ministry, and stress through biblical characters. Research consisted of extended interviews of 9 rural pastors who share experiences in each area of stress. This project taught an approach to couple prayer utilizing the communication skills previously learned in Couple Communication I combined with the Prayer of Examen as a means of reducing defensiveness in couples as they share and pray together about their growing awareness of God. Twelve Christian married couples participated in a twelve week program involving group sessions and homework. This study measured whether there was an increase in marital satisfaction, spiritual well-being and self differentiation. However, household worship is often absent from contemporary Christian culture in America. This thesis made a case for the effect and benefit of household worship on the spiritual well-being of those who practice it. Twenty-six people representing eighteen households led household worship for eight weeks. Leaders in each household met together for instruction and support. These leaders took the Spiritual Well-being Scale before and after implementing household worship. The thesis argues that a Wesleyan hermeneutic is better suited for teaching those who tend toward postmodernity thinking than is reformed theology. Lectio Divina can address issues of people today who are spiritually searching. The project consisted of introducing Lectio Divina to Nazarene evangelicals with a Wesleyan hermeneutic that bridges the gap between evangelicalism and monasticism. College students completed a survey instrument that demonstrated many anti-Christian hostilities. As a result of that survey, a curriculum was developed to be used among college-bound mid-adolescents to equip them with the necessary tools to defend and stand firm in their Christian faith. Alongside the curriculum, the survey instrument also indicated the need and value for an active mentoring ministry to be employed amongst the church's mid-adolescents.
