An Army chaplain is challenged to meet family needs in the midst of these difficult circumstances.  This project looks at today's American family both sociologically and theologically.  It then goes on to explain a four-pronged program for military families. The rationale for writing this project is introduced in chapter 1.  Chapter 2 presents a wide-angle view of how the project fits into various essential perspectives in the world Christian movement.  Chapter 3 describes the model and explains its implementation.  The results of the model's implementation are recorded in Chapter 4 as the model's building blocks become manifest. Using formative evaluative research, seven steps in developing the model included one initial implementation, plus evaluations and revisions.  The final model includes a description of the brief assessment process and criteria on which to base the clergy assessment.  Findings supported, but did not prove, the usability and effectiveness of the model.
