The study utilizes autoethnography, literature reviews, and both qualitative and quantitative research to identify five core competencies that are necessary for young clergywomen of color to thrive: self-awareness, strategic thinking, leadership, balance, and cultivating relationships. The author used surveys and interviews to ascertain the meaning images held not only for the individual members but also for pastors, visitors, and the congregation as an entity. The project design included seven interactive lessons, pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results revealed that the eleven participants were more missionally focused after engaging the discipleship training curriculum. Their awareness and knowledge to include others in God's missional intent grew. A cross-section of ministers from different levels of ministry and different age groups was selected. The project incorporated an eight-week Healing Care Group curriculum and a 15-question survey used to measure their responses. The results revealed a transformational change in the level of awareness of the group. The project team will assist the project director in exploring the demographics and data in and around Jonesboro-Hodge, in identifying disciple-making models of churches with similar characteristics as Hope Chapel, and developing a disciple-making strategy for Hope Chapel.
