This study found 113 churches had been planted.  Surprisingly, only ten (9%) closed, another five had fewer than twenty in average attendance, yielding a failure rate (13%) far lower than expected (65-75%). Churches targeting ethnic/linguistic groups were most numerous and likely to succeed. Biblical and theological foundations are explored, especially a Christian understanding of failure and success. This project explores how a congregation of today might recover the catechumenate, a dynamic pattern of catechesis and formation that accompanies baptism and profession of faith for adults. Because this ministry depends on both laity and clergy participation, a model proposed by Daniel Benedict is used with current members of a local congregation in order to experience the shape and feel of such a ministry. This applied research project used the survey method to investigate some primary factors that have contributed to the growth of GCCP. This is for the benefit of GCCP herself as well as for other Chinese churches in the Philippines. This study answered the research question, 'What are some primary factors associated with new members of the last 10 years (2005-2015) joining Grace Christian Church of the Philippines?' The research examined the three factors of Pulpit Ministry, Culture Change, and Vision as primary factors of church growth. This study looked at pulpit preaching and its central importance in the life of the church. It also examined culture in the church and the change process and why these are important factors to consider when implementing change. Then, it explored how vision and its casting are essential to give the church direction and purpose. The results of the survey indicated that the Pulpit Ministry, Culture Change, and Vision were indeed primary factors of church growth at GCCP from 2005 to 2015.At a time when Chinese churches in the Philippines are stagnant or declining in numbers, Grace Christian Church of the Philippines (GCCP) is one of the fastest-growing Chinese churches in the Philippines in the past decade. In the spring of 2005 the congregation began a journey to transition from serving a Sunday afternoon community meal into creating a Sunday evening ministry, which involved: serving dinners to the community, creating a worship service targeted to the un-churched, and increasing the present food pantry. The method of research was a qualitative research. In 2005, six interviews were conducted, each with a staff person responsible for family ministry in a large evangelical church. Implementation of family ministries varied due to the churches makeup and vision. All staff persons mentioned their focus is on preventing family problems rather than solving them through counseling. Though church planting efforts have increased since the fall of the Berlin Wall, little fruit is evidenced. What are the best practices of healthy church plants in Poland, and what can be learned from them? From nine churches deemed healthy, had been planted since 2005, and had grown to more than 50 in attendance were selected as case study churches. Church health was assessed based on the four-selves model of self-propagating, self-governing, self-supporting, and self-theologizing.
