While individuals may or may not have had exposure to Wittgensteinian philosophy, this study sought to evaluate their current eucharistic liturgical praxis to see what historical paradigm most influence their current formulations. Then, after such evaluations were made, to ask whether the contemporary Presbyterian church could benefit from implementing part of Wittgenstein's philosophy in future eucharistic formulations. Absent fathers have had a destructive effect on the home and community.  It's important that African-American men understand and assume their roles as leaders in the home. Governmental programs to stem this destruction have failed to address the root issue. The clear declaration of the gospel changes people's hearts (1 Cor 1:21). This study is composed of a qualitative design using a semi-structured approach to interview six experienced Chinese pastors. This study concludes that sound hermeneutics leads to sound homiletics. Spiritual formation consists of stringent spiritual disciplines and a required development of godly character within preachers. This research project addressed this deficiency. This research project examined two separate Dallas Theological Seminary Doctorate of Ministry pastoral leadership courses. The research method included a combination of questionnaires, interviews, and review of pertinent course materials. The courses chosen for this research were DM550 Effective Church Leadership (DM550) and DM521 Church Health, Leadership, and Multiplication (DM521). These two church pastoral leadership development courses currently and previously taught in the Doctorate of Ministry program at Dallas Theological Seminary were examined in order to identify the essential elements of a senior level strategic leadership development course that teaches church pastors how to lead and manage a local church. This project explored the essential elements of senior level strategic leadership to create a program to develop church pastors to lead and manage a local church. The essential elements included development and evaluation of a church's mission, vision and values, analysis and evaluation of a church's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, development of a strategic plan for implementing change, and developing a strategic plan for developing leaders. Implementation occurred on the Westside of Detroit, Michigan. The mixed research utilized: (1) participant observations; (2) focus groups; (3) survey and questionnaires; and (4) data collection from interviews, newspapers and published reports. The findings clarified approaches for community engagement and isolated barriers. The summary conclusion supports the church, collaborative partners and residents' engagement in community events that may significantly reduce youth violence. It employs a qualitative case study method to examine Dallas Seminary's archives, interview experts in the field, and compare DTS sites and other seminaries. The propositions assumed positive impact on sustainability (proximity to an undergraduate Bible college; the presence of local faculty-staff for recruitment, retention, and liaising with the home campus; and educational offerings responsive to student needs). The research confirmed some propositions and revised others. Without sufficient care of self, therapists risk burn out, empathy overload, and an inability to continue in the profession. A particular problem exists for marriage and family therapy interns balancing academic studies, clinical practice and personal lives. This project explores intern therapist engagement in creative activities as a form of self-care and stress reduction. While self-report scales reflect the benefit of creative activities for self-care, more study is needed.
