It focuses primarily on practical techniques which laypersons can use to interpret the Bible.  This process entails a cycle of four readings and seven interpretive questions.  Primary emphasis is placed on using the guidelines from normal human language and the original author's intent to approach the text of Scripture.  The practical analytical procedures allow laypersons to do individual Bible study with the incremented incorporation of research tools and study aids. The author examines the task of application from a historical, theological, and theoretical standpoint.  The focus of the study is twenty-four pastors from the Evangelical Free Church of America.  The author uses a content analysis approach to study the unique methods of application used by John Broadus, G Campbell Morgan, D Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Charles Swindoll. Twelve methods of application are isolated from these four homileticians to develop a Methods of Application Self-Reporting Inventory. The 119 students listen to introductory lectures and engage in individual study. They then are divided into eighteen groups.  Each group is assigned a paragraph and writes a commentary on their section.  The results of the project suggest that writing a biblical commentary can be a useful endeavor for high school students. Research into the current literature on marriage, an interview with a clinical psychologist, and questionnaires indicate that communication and conflict resolution skills are vital for good marriages.  Exercises are assigned to the couples during the seminar to put these skills into practice. The major biblical concepts of marriage and sexuality are presented. Traditional methods of presenting the Gospel have been largely ineffective.  This project offers a contextualization model which focuses on the use of the Qur'an as a bridge to Islamic thinking.  It presents a philosophical/theological model which employs the Schaefferian line-of-despair which is adapted to Muslims. Five small groups participated in a ten-month program of spiritual formation using John Wesley's 'band' model.  A questionnaire was administered to the small groups and the rest of the congregation before and after the program.  The small groups experienced significannt spiritual renewal but the remainder of the congregation did not.
