Some presbyteries have begun experimental programs in which personnel are available to counsel clergy and their families.  These persons have no administrative functions that might influence the future career of the clergy. A survey compared members of a Presbytery with such a Pastor-to-Clergy Families program and members of a presbytery which has only an Executive Presbyter. Results failed to confirm the hypothesis. Forty-five Caucasian males between the ages of thirty-five and forty-five complete a questionnaire based on the scriptural tradition and the psychoanalytic developmental theory of Peter Blos.  Paternal blessing is defined as the shared vital and life sustaining affirmation or confirmation of a son's worth by a significant adult male, a father or surrogate father.  Life satisfaction is defined as work satisfaction, non-father relational satisfaction, a general sense of life's meaning and completion of adolescence. In accepting the third step the alcoholic states that he or she has made a decision 'to turn my life and will over to the care of God as I understand Him.'  The author tested the alcoholics with Gorsuch's Adjective Check List and Justice's Family and God Survey.  The data revealed that fourteen alcoholics out of the eighty-three tested had harsh God-images. A statistical review of Lutheran lay people demonstrates a readiness for a broader understanding of stewardship.  The evaluations reveal that the Bible study raises the consciousness that stewardship is a lifestyle. The thesis was that churches that corporately emphasized the pastoral roles of enabler and evangelist grow more rapidly than those which place less emphasis on these roles.  A questionnaire was administered to two groups of churches -- a control group of churches that grows approximately ten percent per annum and a randomly selected group of churches that grow slowly or decline in size.
