It used a case study method that observed ten spouses of deceased cancer patients.  The author planned and implemented the pilot project to meet the needs of the spouses.  He conducted five training sessions with three spouses and took each spouse to visit two other bereaved spouses.  The project included the trainees' views about the development of a lay grief counselor network. Chapter two compares the Uniting Church in Australia and the Korean Church in Korea.  Chapter three presents a servant church model.  Chapter four describes the structure and future plans of the Korean migrant church. By supporting grieving adults, churches can help children deal with grief in a manner which can alleviate further distress.  The project evaluates the theological meaning of death and surveys psychological studies on the impact of death.  It reviews the means of responding to grieving children.  Special attention is focused on how churches can help through pastoral care by clergy and lay helpers, the funeral service, and Christian education. Chapters 3 and 4 contain a historical survey of the oppression of the Taiwanese people, an analysis of the psychological effects of oppression, an examination of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, and a recognition of the need for political involvement. Chapters 6 and 7 describe some current programs designed to strengthen identity and build confidence.
