It includes a critical, historical analysis of supervision within the Pentecostal context.  The author concludes that ministry supervision is undergirded by three confessional elements which legitimate Pentecostal ministry.  The three confessional elements which serve as an interpretive framework for the educational design of Pentecostal supervision are 1) supervision as covenant; 2) supervision as character; and 3) supervision as commission. She presents herself as in desperate need of affirmation.  The woman feels that she is not in control of her life and is a failure in both her profession and her marriage.  The author uses object relations mode of therapy to treat the woman.  He integrates this approach with theological aspects which are suggested by Paul Tillich's writings.  The client's husband joins her in therapy.  This addition contributes to the building of a satisfying marital relationship. The project implemented in the Mountain View United Methodist Church in the Fall of 1987.  It organized persons into small groups for study, sharing and reflection. This project was designed to put into practice the uniqueness Baptists claim for the priesthood of all believers.  If all Christians are priests, then there should be no distinctions between the clergy and laity.  The aim of this project was to 'empower' the laity for intentional ministry in the church. Twenty-six people were enlisted for this project.  Seven were participants in the ministry training and supervision.  Of these seven, three constituted the experiment group and four constituted the control group. The control group was trained but not supervised.  The experiment group was supervised for five months after training.  The remaining people served as evaluators and support group systems. Those who were both trained and supervised became more effective in ministry than those who were trained but not supervised. The program included recruiting and selecting trainees, curriculum development, teaching the program and evaluating the results.  Ten lessons in theory were alternated with practical assignments in children's classrooms under the supervision of a fully trained teacher. Each trainee selected a preferred age group.  The theoretical training included material appropriate to teaching children ages two years through sixth grade.  An integral six week component focused on the personal spiritual growth of the teacher.  The program was evaluated by twelve trainees at the end of the first semester of teaching. In a six hour seminar and four weekly meetings the staff was introduced to the theory of situational leadership developed by Paul Hersey and Kenneth Blanchard.  The author administered a pretest and posttest, to the staff and to a control group. Statistics from the tests indicated an increased leadership effectiveness in the experimental group and no change in the control group. The author researched the history of the churches in the area and studied the reasons for the weak pedagogical skills.  He wrote curriculum which was designed to improve the quality of religious education. The project reviewed the biblical background for sound teaching and used the information as a guide for the enhancement of teaching skills. Further research revealed that theoretical problems would be alleviated by a better equipped teaching force.  A study group was assembled from the area churches and trained with improved skills. The project emphasized the selection and training of the study group. The group concentrated on the improvement of their technical skills of communication, conceptual skills of organization, and human skills for the preparation of an adequate teaching plan.
