It focuses on the eating experiences of Jesus and the spirit of his ministry.  It concludes that communion should be open to all, especially since it proclaims His death which was for all.  Eating together should give us a sense of solidarity with our sisters and brothers throughout the world and identify us with their sufferings and joys.  The project contains recent Eucharistic liturgies, many of which are from Third World countries.  It includes an extensive bibliography and the text of the author's 'Solidarity Liturgy' which is espescially appropriate for World Communion. The author spent a month in the Middle East interviewing Muslims and Christians involved with the dying and related areas. The guidelines were field tested with responses. When people are strongly committed to pursuing this dream and at the same time seek to pattern their lives according to the principles of Christianity, they experience some degree of dissonance -- tension and conflict which is often unresolvable.  This project explores dissonance as a phenomenon through a case study of one man and uses a series of lived moments. Pursuing the American dream and following Jesus Christ, though difficult, are not necessarily antithetical. This project explores the apologetics of Lewis from a pastoral perspective.  Lewis understood that Western society is profoundly secular in tone.  He wrote so as to appeal to secular people.  Lewis defended 'mere' Christianity, an understanding of the faith which was co-extensive with the ancient creeds; he resisted sectarianism and theological faddishness. Lewis's intellectual approach was augmented by a lifestyle which this thesis calls 'pastoral apologetics'. Through a study of relevant literature, a developed theology of change and the results of congregational surveys, the project discovers that failure to adapt is not due to fear of displacement, but to fear of the loss of church and neighborhood.
