It becomes evident that the parables will not be confined to a particularized definition.  The only peace one can make with them is to confirm that they are vibrantly alive and unfinished in their continual impact upon Christians.  The basic thrust of the parables seems to convey messages about the Kingdom of God.  The application of these Kingdom of God messages may be utilized in public worship, parabolical writings and church school curriculum. Typical reactions to conflict in the church are usually dysfunctional and often destructive.  An understanding of the dynamics of conflict and the conflict management options available helps one see which behavioral choices may be destructive and which may be constructive. Preconceived notions that conflict is bad are stated and revised in the context of the Christian faith and the scriptural witness. A model for church growth based on hospitality (Hebrews 13:1-6) was developed.  A program to reverse the membership trend in Eastminster Presbytery (59 churches in northeastern Ohio) included clergy and lay convocations, a major training event and a follow-up consisting of training volunteers in church growth. The socio-psychological perspective of conflict was studied from a Christian orientation.  A proposed process for mediation in congregational conflicts was tested in four conflict situations and evaluated. Attitude change was determined through the use of a questionnaire that was administered prior to and following the delivery of four sermons.  A comparison of the scores indicated the attitudes of the congregation did not change.  There was evidence that the attitudes of some members did change. Its primary purpose was to determine the extent to which members and attenders of a large suburban church were being incorporated into its life and organizational structure.  A research questionnaire and a series of interviews with church members who had dropped out of active involvement with the church were the research tools used to gather data, the analysis of which was used to determine the degree of assimilation. The study combines insights from political theology and political systems theory and establishes through questionnaire method that the missionaries are ambivalent about the use of violence as an instrument of change in the social process. Disciplines used included scripture, early church history, practical theology, and behavioral science.
