The primary purpose of the project has been to explore the possible contribute to be made by Christian spiritual autobiography as an exercise for nurturing the Christian spiritual life within the context of local churches. A special feature of this design involved participants in an imaginative exercise of narrating their life stories in the voice of God. The project is best understood as an experiment, therefore, in the use of the spiritual autobiographies of members of a local congregation for the benefit of those who recall and share their stories and who hear the stories of others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720024411209728,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:59:24.003Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:04:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cfcce1eb-d455-4672-8792-01f8cacfef0b","accessControl_ssim":["e1758d57-de35-4655-93c3-61c15959d30c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The contemporary worship debate: worldly compromise or faithfulness in mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:04:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a8e668b4-fd24-46fe-9d27-fb9c7ce03701"],"hasLease_ssim":["ab3cfc5a-9ffb-424b-966d-dfa38bc0a013"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Homer U Ashby"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Eric J Snyder"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Worship--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Contemporary worship is often viewed as a concession to the individualism and entertainment mentality of our culture. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the characteristics and processes of Nominations and Personnel Committees in United Methodist Churches of the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference selected for their perceived strength in mobilizing laity participation and leadership. The study addresses the Nominations process in two groups of churches. The study sought to discover if significant differences existed between the Nominations process in churches that were recognized as having active lay participation and leadership and other churches of the Annual Conference. A further question the study sought to answer was that of the correlation between well-organized Nominations and Personnel committees and active lay leadership and participation. Additionally, the study sought to identify other factors that might influence the level of lay participation and leadership in those churches that were perceived as showing strength in that area of church life. Data for the study was gathered by means of a researcher developed, self-administered survey mailed to the local pastors of the churches in both study groups. The survey instrument, Nominations and Personnel Committee (NomCom) Characteristics Survey, consisted of an eight page, ninety-five question inventory which addressed organizational and relational aspects of the nomination process within the local church. The questions were predominately closed-ended. The study revealed real differences existing between the two subject groups, one of which exhibited a stronger sense of purpose in ministry, and more careful attention to the procedural elements of their work within the Nominations and Personnel committee. Data from the study also indicated that a correlation exists between the utilization of the Nominations and Personnel committee in the local church and the strength of lay leadership and activity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134649967181824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:38:32.898Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:42:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"25a7f7c4-dca2-448a-b5af-cb6ff9244c05","accessControl_ssim":["b9ad5b73-79b9-4fd9-9a75-bd9b86c96f5a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A theology of hope: a paradigm for ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:42:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:14:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3df70eb8-f86e-4fcf-bd57-f9fc235c3862"],"hasLease_ssim":["249ade5d-a3d9-468e-aae2-0504d92ed277"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brian W Grant"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Larry Wayne Smith"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Hope","African Americans--Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This doctor of ministry project is a study of hope as it relates to the church and clinical setting. More than 44,000 Baby Boomers live in the county; at least 30,000 are unchurched. The proposed strategy is based upon six valid and transferable principles drawn from existing literature and the successful programs of other churches. It met with varying degrees of acceptance by members of the Moline Seventh-day Adventist church, and with little success in reaching out to Baby Boomers. The major hindrance to the project's success is the inability to elicit commitment from the members or to mobilize active support for the strategy by the host church. A major change in organizational methodology such as this requires significant time, careful planning and implementation, and a sense of urgency that the changes are needed."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andrews University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4b1d9df2-25d6-46f6-a889-1871c277d61c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135240786280448,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:47:56.348Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:41:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:09:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a665b36f-4df9-413c-9944-1a61f8f89df0","accessControl_ssim":["79390263-54a7-4148-8cd4-cb5fa7a2b954"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a mission strategy at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:41:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:57:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["80e752b9-ef90-4fb7-9118-2ae17587c0c5"],"hasLease_ssim":["a4953ba9-5e0d-4428-9cb2-31a92dc17b7b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Harry L Poe"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Danny Stubbs Sinquefield"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Faith Baptist Church (Bartlett, Tenn)","Home missions","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive mission strategy at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. The project assessed the mission awareness of the congregation using a questionnaire survey in Sunday School. The group process was used to develop a specific strategy based on the 'Key Church' criteria of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Chapter 2 presented a biblical and theological support for developing a mission strategy using Old and New Testament perspectives. Chapter 3 contained the social and cultural rationale for developing a mission strategy. The need for a mission strategy was based on the climate of our culture and our calling as Christians. Chapter 4 outlined the process of developing the mission strategy in the context of Faith Baptist Church. Chapter 5 concluded by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129044550418432,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:09:27.157Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
