The project will be conducted in three phases.  The first phase will include five Sunday morning messages addressing the nature of organizational change in the life of churches, ministry through spiritual gifts, and the development of team ministries.  The messages will discuss ministry structures found in Scripture and the basic operational principles by which they function.  The second phase will focus on five Sunday evening seminars.  The seminars will examine Sunday morning sermons in light of Garden Oaks Baptist Church's committee structure with a view toward developing a structure based on a team-ministry approach. Through interaction and dialogue, seminar participants will evaluate Garden Oaks Baptist Church's committee structure and pursue development of a team-ministry structure based on one's spiritual gifts.  The third phase will be designed to enlist a study team of twelve people from participants of the first and second phases. Five steps were taken to begin the transition. A handbook was developed to guide teams. A small group experience was used to expose team leaders to the handbook and model the team concept. A one day workshop was given for team members. A sermon was delivered to the congregation to encourage a positive organizational climate. Some team maintenance activities were employed. It is concerned with questions having to do with the discipline of prayer in the spiritual development of Christians. A primary premise of the work is that greater practice of prayer and a more disciplined prayer life will aid and encourage spiritual growth.  The author suggests that many followers of Jesus Christ are not utilizing the great gift of prayer in their lives. The study attempts to correlate greater participation in prayer and the spiritual development of the one who is praying. Further, there is an attempt to assess at what point the participants believed that there was a 'diminishing return' to their prayer life, i.e., how much time dedicated to prayer is enough each day. Further, there is an attempt to correlate increased activity of prayer and the spiritual revitalization of an entire congregation. The thesis begins with theological reflection on the nature and value of prayer. The work moves on to an historical analysis of the Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, followed by a review of the literature pertinent to the subject. The project design is discussed, and the outcomes of the project are noted. A pro-active research method was used. The author hoped that the program participants would be transformed by the experience and this would result in their becoming involved in ministries with the poor and homeless. After completing the program, the author reports the answer to the thesis question is yes. The thesis is introduced  by examining the theological meaning and importance of the doctrines of justification and sanctification as pillar doctrines undergirding any true model of Christian spirituality. A brief history of the theological development of these doctrines is provided, as well as the views that Edwards held on these matters. The first chapter then proceeds to examine Edwards as a man. A brief biographical sketch is provided, followed by an exploration of Edwards as a pastor-theologian. The work then seeks to assess the influence of Edwards upon his contemporaries and the contemporary church. The second chapter looks at Edwards' theology of God's glory as seen in his Dissertation concerning the end for which God created the world. Chapter Three investigates Edwards' theology of Christian spirituality as seen in his Treatise concerning religious affections. The transition is then made to the practical ramifications of the truths of Edwards' theology by the development of an Edwardsean model of Christian spirituality.
