The complexity of reaching a group with the gospel of salvation, that up until recently had been neglected, required a new ministry paradigm.  This project was designed to understand that new ministry paradigm.  To accomplish this, Dr. Eldin Villafañe's 'hermeneutical circle paradigm' for social ethics was used.  The systemic interactions of the elements involved could be observed, evaluated and understood by asking three questions.  The first question is clarification: what is the ministry issue?  Or: why is this significant?  The various elements in the system are identified, analyzed, and placed within the greater whole in order to get context and importance of the issue (introduction and chapter one). The second question is conceptualization: how do the Bible, theological thinking, and the social sciences impact and interact with this ministry issue?  Here systemic reflection and other analysis can be brought with Scripture to establish key factors (elements) and principles necessary to support this new ministry paradigm (chapters two through four).  The third question is confrontation: what are the outcomes or implications of the new ministry paradigm?  Is further research needed?  Are there ideas that are transferable?  The results of planting churches among the upper classes flow from systemic elements that have been identified and understood (chapter five).  The idea of reaching people whom Jesus said would be extremely difficult to reach does not excuse the church from reaching them. When mission and church structure themselves theologically and socially exclude or place barriers for them to come to Christ, then the Holy Spirit must find ways to break through in a way that more accurately reflects the Kingdom of God. Insofar as possible, the effectiveness of the divorce recovery program known as Fresh Start Australia Pty. Ltd. was evaluated. The thesis includes a study of the high rate of divorce, the social impact of the disintegration of the family and the perceived failure of the church to address this problem. The writer seeks to encourage and endorse marriage and contrast the benefits to direct and collateral damage done by divorce. Insofar as possible, the writer examined the biblical role of marriage, divorce and re-marriage throughout biblical and contemporary times. By many statistical reports this is the least likely group to be in worship on Sunday. There seems to be a disconnection with this group when it comes to corporate worship times and other church-related activities, although this group has many indicators that point to spiritual desire. The worship offerings, in particular, seem to be failing when it comes to attracting this age group. The project introduces a discovery model based upon survey, interviews, and observation that attempts to look at two recent developments in worship which seem to be attracting this 18-35 year-old age group. The two different worship styles were functioning at the two churches that were studied in this project. These two services, contemporary and modern multi-sensory, were used to compare and contrast the effectiveness of attracting and producing a level of participation within the targeted age group. The two most important findings were: first, the contemporary worship service was of greater importance in the lives of the surveyed groups than the multi-sensory worship service. Yet the surveyed group from the multi-sensory worship indicated they were much more participative in the life of the church than the contemporary group. Shiloh is an old, traditional, southern black Baptist institution whose historical prominence emerged because of her dynamic Christian education ministry, of which Sunday School had dwindled to nil.  Eager to revitalize the Christian education ministry and energize the persons of auxiliaries and ministry leaders, the pastor petitioned to boost a dying ministry.  An initiative involving all church leaders was launched to address the Christian education needs of Shiloh.  The timeline for this project was originally six weeks, but developed into an additional seven weeks to more effectively meet the objectives of the project.  Phase I of the project focused on assessing the Christian education ministry, defining roles and leadership training. Phase II specifically concentrated on Sunday School teacher training centered on biblical background knowledge, Christian doctrine, teaching methods and addressed a variety of learning styles.
