Abstract
  • This project examines the biblical and practical components of indirect methods of preaching. Local congregation measure the potential effectiveness of this method, particularly proclamation of law and gospel from a Lutheran context. Proclamation of law exposes the hearer's sinfulness and need of a Savior. Proclamation of gospel reveals Jesus as Savior, offering forgiveness and salvation to all who believe. The research indicates ability of auditors to hear indirectly the proclamation of law and gospel, and the project concludes that this type of sermon aids listeners to retain the message.
