Abstract
  • This project develops and implements a plan for involvement of a local church--Village Baptist Church in Marin City, California--in a medical mission to Lagos, Nigeria. Six members of the congregation organized a five-year program of support for the medical mission, beginning with hypertension screening for 300 persons over a six-month period and supplies of medication for persons diagnosed by the program. The project is theologically grounded in the holistic and ecclesiological nature of the mission of God. Health and medicine are important in every culture, and cultural understanding is essential to missionary effort in Africa.
