Abstract

The purpose of this project is to enhance the project director’s doctrinal preaching skills to increase congregational awareness of scriptural authority at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Hueytown, Alabama. The project director utilized the preaching skills enhancement model. The development of this project involved researching the field of doctrinal preaching, investigating the components of a doctrinal sermon, and assembling a group of participants to partake in surveys and sermon responses. The project required the director to utilize the information attained through research to write a doctrinal sermon series on scriptural authority and effectively preach the sermons sequentially. An expert evaluator used a predetermined doctrinal preaching rubric to evaluate the project director’s effectiveness in writing and preaching doctrinal sermons
