Abstract
  • The author studied the effectiveness of the Ascension Bible Institute to equip and motivate lay-people for office and service in the church. Research was done by questionnaires administrated before and after each of 2 successive sessions of the institute. Also used were personal interviews of institute participants. Research showed that the institute was succeeding in teaching biblical knowledge. It did not succeed in motivating people to greater service in church or community. The author concluded that various factors entered into the cause of the failure. The final chapter lists recommendations for remedy of failure and future evaluation.
