Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to prepare African American small group leaders at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas to translate their current small group curriculum and make it culturally inclusive and sensitive to their African American cell group members. These leaders are confronted by two problems regarding the lack of inclusivity and sensitivity evident in their church's curriculum and training in hermeneutics, which this project will address. The author intends to write and implement a ten-week curriculum to train African American small group leaders in hermeneutics during a discipleship course entitled, Hermeneutics for Growth Group Leaders. Specific emphasis will be given to the application of these basic hermeneutic principles to the current small group leaders' material.
