Abstract
  • God is the God of new beginnings. Churches that have experienced serious decline or closure may be places where God and God's people can begin again. The author identified twenty-six churches that started over. Pastors and key leaders were mailed a written questionnaire and responded to it via telephone interview or in writing. Restart churches that succeed do so as energetic and enthusiastic pastors give clear vision and seek to reach out into the communities for Christ's sake. Restart churches that fail to do so because of no vision, poor pastoral leadership, and/or location.
