Abstract
  • This project proposes that spiritual retreats serve an important function in the process of equipping Christian disciples for mission in a changing world. In the process of disengaging from the familiar and routine, Christians are exposed to fresh encounters with God in a community that shares this experience. Using a Participatory-Action Research method, this project reveals that those who attend spiritual retreats can expect to encounter the God who calls, transforms, equips, and sustains them, before sending them to re-engage the culture as witnesses to the reign of the Triune God in the world.
