- Abstract
- This project proposes a model for cross-racial relations between congregations, drawing on the experience of two congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Birmingham, Alabama, which have cooperated in ministry and fellowship since 1993. Based on the history of race relations and civil rights in Birmingham as well as the history of the two congregations, the project demonstrates that in relations between congregations each needs to learn about the other in order to find understanding, acceptance, cooperation, and sharing. Other kinds of diversity can also be addressed in this way.
