- Abstract
- The basis for this project was the author's involvement in two practica; the first demonstrating the helpfulness of addressing community issues in light of an understanding of the mission of the black church and the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and the biblical mandate for justice and liberation; the second addressing the meaning of membership in relation to social action as the heritage of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The first group designed and implemented a one-day voter registration drive in South Oak Cliff, registering 55 persons in Dallas County. There was interest among African Methodists in social action, but a dearth of emphasis and training for lay involvement.
