  • This project focused on John Wesley's understanding of the Methodist Annual Conference as a means of grace, training thirteen lay delegates to analyze Conference from Wesleyan perspectives. Russell Richey's 1996 book served as primary guide. The researcher employed pro-active qualitative methods. Research revealed: (1) conferring occurred minimally; (2) conferring in participant group study revitalized Conference; (3) conferring through committees altered Conference. Related findings highlighted laity's abilities to experience and understand the Conference in Wesleyan fashion and the emergence of 'authority' as a means of grace.
