  • The author studied eight growing Baptist churches of similar identity, two in each state. The research was done via questionnaires and a personal visit to each church by the author. It revealed that there were growing Baptist churches in all four states. Fifteen characteristics were readily acknowledged as significant in these churches and their growth. The characteristics receiving the highest ratings were: uplifting worship services, evangelistic strategy, Bible-centeredness, aggressive pastoral leadership and well-paid staff.
