Abstract
  • The thesis of this dissertation is that the leadership course Discipleship for Leadership developed by Bruce Ewing at Fellowship Bible Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an effective tool in helping the pastoral staff of Coppell Bible Fellowship to develop and train lay leaders to be effective biblical servant leaders. The body of the dissertation is divided into four parts. A literature review that highlights the core issues gleaned from previous research as well as literature pertinent to the subject of discipleship specifically geared to developing leaders is provided. The procedure and research method used is given. A report of the results of the research is provided. Finally, conclusions and research implications are given. The author believes the continuing development of leaders consistent with the discipleship model found in the NT is vital to the life and ministry of Coppell Bible Fellowship, the church that the author planted over ten years ago and remains the pastor of today. As a church planter and pastor the author is particularly interested in 'equipping' or 'discipling' people in the local church for 'servant leadership.'
