Abstract
  • This project seeks to develop a sound, biblical method of counseling cohabiting couples, particularly when they approach pastors and churches to perform weddings. The project draws on 25 years of sociological research into the modern cohabitation phenomenon, serious study of marriage as covenant from biblical and historical sources, and a survey of 200 theologically conservative pastors, in order to provide insights, recommendations, and methods for pastoral counselors who work with unmarried couples in cohabiting relationships.
