Abstract
  • This project proposes, implements, and evaluates a training course for new members--including lesson plans, handouts, leader resource material, and tests designed to discover the level of new members' spiritual pilgrimage at the beginning and end of the training--at Round Oak Baptist Church (Corbin, Va). Of 33 participants who take the course between October 1996 and February 1997, 26--or 78.8 percent--are still active in the church in March 1998. The church needs a more workable curriculum for children, a mentoring system, and training for teachers and facilitators of new-member classes.
